Who’s eligible to become a member?

Our constitutution states “any person engaged in library work or a library trustee, concentrating on the greater Tri-Cities area of Virginia and Tennessee” is eligible. In short, anyone interested in promoting libraries can become a Boone Tree member.

Why become a member?

Although our meetings are free and open to everyone, we would love for more people to join us officially through membership. Membership ensures future growth for the organization; membership builds on professional promise; membership shows a dedication to who we are and what we do. We rely on our membership dues to help provide programming opportunities, as well as funding special projects on occasion (such as funding scholarships to help pay registration fees to the Tennessee Library Association when the annual meeting was held in Kingsport in 1999). When people become active members in our organization, we continue to produce effective leaders in our region and from our region.

Boone Tree is a wonderful place to begin in leadership to our profession, as there are opportunities for involvement at various levels of leadership potential. Being an affiliate of our state library association allows for further growth and involvement beyond Boone Tree. We are unique in that we represent all types of libraries and information environments, and also in that we are equally accessible to support staff, students, and professional positions.

How can I become a member?

You are welcome to attend any of our meetings and meet the association officers. Dues are collected at every meeting. If you wish to learn more about the association or would like to join right away or if you would like to fund a membership for a colleague or student you can fill out the form below. You should hear back from a Boone Tree officer in a few days. Or if you would like to join or renew by mail, prior to the next scheduled meeting, you may print out the membership form, complete it, and mail it to the specified address.
