There has been a lot of excitement going on behind the scenes at Boone Tree! The officers have been hard at work setting up two events and making some changes to the web site. Here is the latest news:

First, mark your calendar for the Boone Tree picnic. On Friday, May 11th, come out to the Eastman Shelter #27 at Bays Mountain for a great time. Be sure to bring a dish (or two) and join us anytime between 4:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. BTLA will provide the main course (to be announced on the web site later in the month). This shelter is close to the playground, so bring your family and kids. Also, feel free to bring any outdoor games and folding chairs, if you want. Information and directions are on the web site (www.boonetree.org).

Speaking of the web site, if you haven’t looked lately, you should see the changes that Jason Penwell, our Vice-President/Webmaster has been making. One of the new functionalities of the site is an event calendar that can be subscribed to with software such as iCal and Outlook or imported into your Google calendar. The site will continue to undergo modifications in order to make it very user-friendly. Our goal is to have a “one-stop shopping” place for local library news and events. Stay tuned for more developments!

Jason has also set up a Facebook page for Boone Tree. Be sure to Like us! Search for Boone Tree Library Association or visit www.facebook.com/BooneTreeLibraryAssociation. We hope to use the site to help publicize upcoming events and interesting news in the library world.

Of course, if you have any questions, be sure to contact any of the officers. If you have not yet paid your dues, Virginia Salmon will accept your money at the picnic or you can mail your dues to her. The membership form is under Join on the web site.

Also, if you have any photographs from previous meetings or picnics, please let Jason know. We are hoping to get more pictures on the web site and Facebook page.

-Brenda Moriarty, President

-Jason Penwell, Vice President

-Gail Campbell, Secretary

- Virginia Salmon, Treasurer
